Kayak Sans Frontières’ Discovery paddleboard lessons invite students to master an aquatic art that melds the motions of canoeing with the upright stature of surfing. Three-hour escapes from the tyranny of cement begin on the shores of the Great Basin with a tutorial of paddleboarding history, safety, and proper equipment use. Then, students practice balancing on boards and rowing with long, gondola-esque paddles on calm waters. After learning the rules of the river and basic paddle-jousting etiquette, expeditions depart down the St. Lawrence River, eventually travelling through the adrenalin-enhancing currents of the Lachine Rapids. Paddleboard outings are limited to seven paddlers, ensuring each student receives complete instruction from an attentive and laid-back instructor.
