Get your creative juices flowing by getting coached in handling clay or a camera with today’s artistically minded offer. Whether you prefer to get your hands dirty or look at the world through a lens, you will find the perfect place to explore your passion at Creative Boost. With a staff composed of some of the city’s most talented artists, and all teachers being both graduates in Fine Arts and Design and actively producing in their fields, you can be certain that both the technical aspect as well as the expressive side of making art will be cultivated.
In groups of 10 or less (please make sure you reserve your spot 48 hours in advance), potters will learn how to throw (pottery on the wheel), how to wedge, trim, finish, glaze and fire their piece. The instructor will also work one on one with each student to introduce basic sculpture and hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab-building techniques. The clay and necessary tools will be provided, and you can choose to either leave with your piece ‘as is’ after the class, or have it cooked in their specialized oven (for an extra fee of only $3) and come back a week later to collect your fully finished bowl, vase, mug, or other creation!
For those more visual than tactile, the photography class will train your eye to capture images and magical moments. Armed with your camera, you will be able to learn the fundamentals of digital photography, including workflow, composition and efficient camera operation. The class of 20 students or less (don’t forget to reserve your spot at least 48 hours in advance!) will move between technical and conceptual development, to cover the many facets of photography. Please remember to bring your own digital camera to the class, as none will be provided, and to allow you to learn on the tool you will use in the future.
Pottery classes are held every Monday and Wednesday between 6:30pm and 9 pm, and Photography classes are held every Monday between 6:30pm and 9 pm. To reserve your spot, please call at least 48 hours prior to the class at 514-844-7752. Please remember that a 24h cancellation policy applies.
