In practice for more than 14 years, LCI Lasercom’s expert technicians wield lasers approved by the FDA, CSA, and Health Canada at each of the area’s seven clinics. After determining the body area to be treated, a technician identifies the customer’s skin type using the Fitzpatrick scale, which is based on the skin’s reaction to sun exposure. This preliminary evaluation allows the technician to take all the necessary precautions demanded by specific skin tones, ensuring safe treatment. During the sessions, the laser emits an invisible light that is absorbed by the follicle and then transformed into heat to hinder hair growth. Any dermis surrounding the follicle is unaffected by the process. Each session lasts 30–90 minutes on average, depending on the size of the area treated and the type of hair.

Due to LCI Lasercom’s cooling system, most customers don’t feel pain or discomfort during treatment, although some may experience a tingling sensation. As some body areas are more sensitive than others, the technician may apply a topical anesthetic (for an additional fee) to the surface of the skin to prevent any unpleasant sensations. Though after-effects of treatment can include redness and swelling, these symptoms are brief and generally do not impede normal routines and activities.
